Fans share #Loki memes after the 2nd episode premiered on Disney+

Another Wednesday came along, and a new episode of Loki on Disney+ got released. That means, the hilarious tweets and fan speculation is back for meme time! So much was going on in Episode 2, “The Variant” made us hold on to our seats, and holding out for a hero (wink wink!) that we needed this to cap off our viewing of the show. So let’s get started:

    2.

Marvel just loved being able to have the license to Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero” cleared this week as it not only appeared in Loki, but in the trailer for Square Enix’ Guardians of the Galaxy video game as well! Not complaining, tho. This song gets us in the mood!

Here’s the show again, putting its nihilistic and existentialistic themes out in its sleeves. Do go on with it, you! I do love that brain workout this show is giving its audience. Even more up ahead in this episode.

Yeah. That Loki’s across multiverses was fun to watch, and we hope we’d get to see more of them in future episodes!

Yeah. This one had me do that math equation lady meme because there’s been speculation going around that the lady in the opening sequence have been our very own Agatha from WandaVision! Take it with a grain of salt.

Is it really, tho? I know Marvel loves to do that “hero fights villain with the same skill set” since Iron Man, so we’re literally expecting Loki to fight a version of himself, and if Lady Loki turns out to be Enchantress (not related in any way to Cara Delevigne’s Enchantress from Suicide Squad), that would be cool either way!

Here is the 1st episode #LOKI memes shared by fans.

  • 5 Filipino Mythical Beings and Legends fans like to see in Trese Season 2

5 Filipino Mythical Beings and Legends fans like to see in Trese Season 2

Now that everyone’s in a bit of a Trese fever after the animated series debuted on Netflix last week, interest towards the fantastic and terrifying Philippine monsters and beings have surely sprung up after the show featured just a handful of well-known ones like the horse headed Tikbalang with Maliksi and his father, and the tragic Tiyanak from Episode 3.

Basically covering up the first three volumes of the graphic novel, the show has only scratched the surface when it comes to Philippine myths and legends. Granted that we still haven’t seen anything featured beyond the first season of the anime, nor haven’t gotten our hands on the graphic novel. As anime adaptations go, some original story arcs have been created to fill the time between the next saga from the source material, or just to fill in the ordered episodes in a season. So take this as a fan casting of some sorts, because we just can’t get enough of this world! In no particular order, here are some creatures we hope to see in future Trese episodes:

    5. Tiburones

TIBURONES: The Flying Sharks of Philippine Folklore • THE ASWANG PROJECT

As if sharks aren’t scary enough as they are, imagine this one lunging at you while you’re staring at the deep blue ocean. The tiburones is a winged shark monster featured in the Bikolano epic, Ibalon. If on future episodes, Trese and the gang would do an ocean related crime investigation, we sure hope to see these guys. That would be a thrill.

    4. Bungisngis

Urban Legend: Story of Bungisngis The Filipino Cyclops - IFY Books

And it goes without saying that our very own version of the Grecian cyclops should show up on Trese somewhere down the line. They’re actually nice in spite of their looks. Their name comes from their giggling, teeth baring and all. Perhaps a Frankenstein’s monster story is in order with this one. An impoverished child and his/her misunderstood protector, perhaps?

    3. Batibat/Bangungot

JOHN PAUL UY - Batibat The Batibat is a vengeful demon... | Facebook

This one writes itself. The scene: mysterious deaths involving men and it doesn’t take Trese and the gang long to investigate. Batibats are described to be morbidly obese women who sit on sleeping humans, mostly men, suffocating them to death. Also, it’s interesting to note that legends aside, there is a thing called SUNDS or sudden unexplained nocturnal death syndrome in real life, and it remains a mystery how this happens, and why it’s been observed mostly in Southeast Asia, where The Philippines is located. We haven’t looked up at other neighboring countries if they have their own version of the batibat, but if there are, we bet it’d be as scary as ours.

    2. The Robinsons Galleria Snake

Alice Dixson + That Robinsons Galleria Snake: How the Urban Legend Came to Life

Since they already put a spin on another famous urban legend with the white lady of Balete Drive in Episode 1, we do hope Trese gets to put their spin on this one. As the urban legend goes, a mall (which in this case is Robinsons Galleria, but there are other versions as to which mall this story is set) is purposely made as a hunting ground for a snakelike offspring of the owners. Back in the 90’s, a famous Filipina actress named Alice Dixson almost fell victim to this monster in the mall’s dressing room. Since Trese also did the “famous actress got her fortune because she was favored by an elemental” story already with the tiyanak episode, it’s not hard to see Trese have another go with the world of showbiz.

    1. Bakunawa

Bakunawa: Tale of a Dragon and the Seven Moons - Owlcation

The moon eater of legend! Wonder what the world of Trese would do with this one, but we bet it would be a sight to behold! Bakunawa is believed to be the cause of eclipses, and Pre-colonial Filipinos would go out of their homes banging pans and pots so that the snake would spit out the moon in the sky.

Trese is streaming on Netflix, with notable cast members including Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars) and Liza Soberano (Bagani, Make It With You) as main lead, Alexandra Trese for English and Filipino dub respectively, Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls member), among others.

  • Tom Hiddleston excited for Fans to finally watch Episodes 4 and 5 of Loki

Tom Hiddleston excited for Fans to finally watch Episodes 4 and 5 of Loki

With just an episode dropped last week Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Loki began the weekly fan speculations (and confusion!) that became part of watching the MCU shows since WandaVision. The show already introduced sci-fi and philosophical concepts such as multiverses, determinism vs. free will, and nihilism (all in one episode!).

In a recent interview on TikTok, Tom Hiddelston, who’s also in the Executive Producer chair for this show, says that people should look forward to see the fourth and fifth episode.

“I think episode four and five, the two together. The whole series takes off in a direction that I certainly didn’t see coming when I read it. I’m really excited for the audience to see it, so that’s where we just expand into new territory “ – Tom Hiddleston

For whatever that means, audience better brace themselves. It’s gonna be a wild ride!

Loki runs for six episode, once every Wednesday of the week on Disney+

  • Resident Evil Village tops PS game charts after release

Resident Evil Village tops PS game charts after release

So much has happened this week for the Resident Evil franchise. The mainline game, now on its 10th installment with Resident Evil Village has topped the game charts for the month of May, especially on PlayStation.

“Like Lady Dimitrescu herself, Resident Evil Village towered over the competition in May’s PlayStation Store charts, earning the survival horror adventure the top spot not only on the US and EU PS5 charts, but the EU PS4 list as well.” as stated on PlayStations blog.

Elsewhere, the American voice acting cast from the last three game releases: RE7, RE3 (2020), and RE Village, got together for a little celebration (and much to every RE fans enjoyment!) on game streaming site, Twitch, hosted by Nicole Tompkins (Jill Valentine, Daniella Dimitrescu) on her account and answered fan questions and handed out prizes last June 6, 2021.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, one of two planned RE Netflix series, just released the opening scene from the show, in anticipation for its release next month, July 8, 2021. Infinite Darkness includes both pairs of voice actors from the Resident Evil: 2 remake’s American and Japanese main characters.

  • Dear Evan Hansen’s 1st trailer released!

Dear Evan Hansen’s 1st trailer released!

The first look of the much awaited film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical from 2015, Dear Evan Hansen, is here! Starring Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect, Ricki and the Flash) returns to his role as the titular character, the one he originated in the Broadway production, as well as Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, among others.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a teenager and his struggles with mental illness and a death of a schoolmate that lead him to a predicament.

The songs are written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the same songwriting duo that wrote the songs from La La Land and The Greatest Showman, the latter even sharing the same impassioned DNA with the musical numbers from Dear Evan Hansen, as heard from “You Will Be Found”, the song that’s featured in the trailer. New audiences will definitely love them, as much as they did with the songs from The Greatest Showman.

Dear Evan Hansen will be released theatrically on September 24, 2021.

  • WandaVision wins 4 Golden Popcorns at 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards

WandaVision wins 4 Golden Popcorns at 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards

The hit Disney+ show bagged four awards (out of 5 nominations) at the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards last May 16 and 17, 2021. WandaVision won as Best Show, while main cast members, Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn won for Best Performance – TV and Best Villain respectively, while their fight scene during the final episode won the Best Fight.

Teyonah Paris got a nod for Best Hero (losing to Anthony Mackie for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, another MCU show).

It’s been two months since the miniseries ended since it first premiered back in January, after a year long absence of Marvel content in 2020, being the first story told for Phase 4 of the MCU.

The show about a reality bending superheroine dealing with her grief after the loss of the love of her life had audiences spend week after week theorizing and having fun with memes, among other things, showed WandaVision‘s impact.

This is just an early win. There’s still the Emmys to win over later on this year.
